November 1, 2022 – As Hong Kong unveiled plans to “trawl the world for talent” in its latest policy address, InvestHK today announced its strategic partnership with global fintech training platform 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion (“10x1000”). As of last week, a total of 160 professionals from across the Hong Kong digital ecosystem have either joined or completed 10x1000 training programs in this partnership.
This collaboration includes recruitment of local talents to enroll in 10x1000 programs, co-creation of new programs, and 10x1000’s participating in the Global Fast Track and Hong Kong Fintech community as a partnering program. The partners aim to nurture more local talents to accelerate digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and digital economic growth. The results of the program are expected to enhance talent development and improve the quality of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), increase female participation, and promote the digital economy in Hong Kong.
10x1000 Tech for Inclusion is an open and global fintech training platform that enables learners to become drivers of digital economic growth. 10x1000 is a philanthropic initiative that was launched jointly by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and Ant Group’s Alipay in 2018. Its mission is to train 1,000 emerging talents and tech leaders each year for the next ten years.
The strategic partnership with InvestHK is the latest effort by 10x1000 to deepen its collaborations with partners worldwide. Globally, 10x1000 has forged partnerships with the IFC, UNIDO, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UN World Food Programme, SME Finance Forum Managed by the IFC, Dubai, International Financial Centre, KPMG and multiple fintech associations worldwide.
Meanwhile, this partnership also came after Ant Group’s various commitments to local talent development, including 10x1000’s partnership with The Chinese University of Hong Kong Engineering FinTech Applied Research Academy and the School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. With the aforementioned vision, in 2021, 10x1000 certified a total of 1,067 learners from 66 countries and regions, which helped local entrepreneurs and professionals to enhance their fintech mindset, knowledge and skills to better allow them to drive digital economic growth.
“Based on feedback from our Fintech companies and investors, more support in cultivating our talents, especially in the middle management layer, is highly valuable to our Fintech ecosystem in Hong Kong. At InvestHK, we are excited about this partnership to help promote more adoption of this impactful 10x1000 talent programme to our Fintech community”, said Mr. King Leung, Head of Fintech of InvestHK. Registration for the “Flex” Fintech Foundation Program is now open through.
“We are honored to partner with InvestHK in achieving our shared goal to cultivate local Hong Kong fintech talents and drive digital economic growth. Human capital is Hong Kong’s competitive advantage and in this digital era, there is tremendous potential for local talents to further drive Hong Kong’s growth. In this regard, with our partners, 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion is committed to bring more world-class fintech training programs and opportunities to local learners,” said Jason Pau, Senior Director of Ant Group and 10x1000 program lead.
